Pie Traynor Single-Signed ONL (Frick) Ball
Out of stock
The ball itself provides several clues. It’s an ONL Ford Frick, who served as National League President from 1934 to ’51. Then, the treasured autograph it holds was clearly placed by a strong hand – vital rather than one enfeebled by advancing age. And finally, the ball served duty on the field. Obviously, we can’t affirm (but only suggest) that this baseball was game-used during Pie Traynor’s playing tenure, and then sweet-spot signed per an admirer’s request. A measurable departure from modern media, the condition of this ball wouldn’t fare well in the eyes of professional grading services – but then, this union of a soiled and lightly scuffed official baseball, along with a Pie Traynor inking, is as it should be. Despite the color of the ball, the Pirate legend’s signature yet radiates at a strength and clarity of “9”. A beauty in the eye, and in the imagination.
