This item originates from the Roy Moseley collection. Moseley was one of the leaders in show business journalism in England. He wrote many books that appeared on the New York Time’s Best Seller List. Being an author in high regard had its perks, as he was closely connected to royalty and celebrities. Hence his notable work, “My Stars and Other Friends” provides a glimpse into the lifestyle us everyday people dream about. During his career, Moseley brilliantly gathered in person some of the finest autographs in the world. Some were personalized to him as a testament to their respect and kinship. Every celebrity has a story as well as every autograph Moseley obtained. Here now is one of those legacy pieces for your collection.
Included in this Moseley lot are five signed parchment cuts related to political and military figures. They were taken from autograph albums with each signer adding a salutation / inscription. Included are F.M. (Field Marshal) Harold Alexander of Tunis (signed Alexander of Tunis). Alexander was a senior officer in the British Army and later the Governor General of Canada; Huw Wheldon. Wheldon was a BBC broadcaster and he added the inscription St. Martin’s Lane, 1977. Wheldon was awarded a Military Cross for his bravery during D-Day; Charles Portal – Portal of Hungerford (1st Viscount) verso signed by actor Paul McGrath; Sir Douglas Bader who was part of the Royal Air Force (RAF) flying ace verso signed by British actor David Knight and Claude Auchinleck.
