RARE 1967 Colonel Sanders Nodder in Original Box!

Out of stock

SKU: 18115 Category:

Offered is one of the true grails of nodder collecting – one of only a literal few known to have survived unscathed in its original box and packaging. It portrays one of the great characters of American enterprise – Colonel Harland Sanders – who turned a secret blend of eleven herbs and spices into a global empire known as Kentucky Fried Chicken. This classic caricature depicts a dapper Colonel in his trademark white suit and string tie, grasping a walking cane and, of course, a bucket of drumsticks. The box is a phenomenal rarity in outstanding condition with a near-perfect label bearing a 1967 copyright – “The World’s Most Famous Colonel, Colonel Harland Sanders, Original ‘Bobbing’ Doll.” A price of “1.95” is also printed on the label, but this is a misnomer. These dolls were give-aways in ’67 with bucket purchases at KFC. Little quality control was necessary, simply because there wasn’t an actual retail customer to please. Noted because our rare colonel is by definition, “mint”, i.e., factory-fresh, but he does display a couple of bumps and some uneven paint – but, be assured, this is “factory”, and this one stands as one of the finest known, termed by experts as “mint”, even with the qualification. The accompanying box and cardboard neckbrace are original to this doll, and the colorful box, with its graphic of Sanders, is also deemed “one of the finest known.” This may be the advanced collector’s only opportunity to obtain a complete and utterly original example of this extraordinary bobber.
