Description
Rare 1970 Jimi Hendrix Open Air Love + Peace Insel Fehmarn Germany Poster
Presented is a poser for the Open Air Love + Peace Insel Fehmarn musical festival in Germany. The event was held September 4-6, 1970. It represents the last known concert appearance for the greatest rock guitarist in history, Jimi Hendrix. The festival itself was incredible and the poster highlights the all-star talent with Rod Stewart with Faces, Sly and the Family Stone, Canned Heat, Taste (with Rory Gallagher) and so many others.
The poster is an important piece of rock history as Hendrix was wrapping up the tour in September and cancelled the show scheduled on the 14th because his bassist (Billy Cox) suffered a nervous breakdown. Four days later, Hendrix was found dead of an apparent drug overdose.
Poster was printed by CLAUDIUS – KRAFT – DRUCKEREI – RENDSBURG as noted in small print.  It measures 11-1/4″ x 32″.
This poster comes from the private collection of Caesar Glebbeek, renowned Hendrix researcher and co-author of the best seller Jimi Hendrix: Electric Gypsy (St. Martin’s Press, 1990; now OOP). This poster was obtained (decades ago) from the manager of the late, great Alexis Korner (Korner also performed at Fehmarn, his name is listed also on the poster) after Glebbeek met and interviewed Korner several times regarding his London encounters with Jimi Hendrix in the late sixties.. All frames come in “as in condition”.
