Rare & Earliest Version of Rittgers Baseball Set (1941).

Out of stock

SKU: 7256 Category:

Although produced into the late-40s, all Rittgers baseball sets display the 1941 copyright, but this is the true first version & vision of the classic group. These three early pieces display many subtle and not-so-subtle variations in relation to the later sets, and reflect noticable differences when set side by side. Each figure is slightly smaller and stouter than those in the typical set, with features abit more blunt and less refined. Forearms and noses are broader, expressions more pronounced, and paint; darker, less subtle. The tagging is an obvious indentifier as the later sets were distributed by Suttle & Rittgers, Inc., and this set was marketed directly by the studio, with tag stating, “Original Humor – Rittgers – Copyright by Lafayette L. Rittgers – Chicago.” The group of three has survived 53 years in near-perfect condition. Each piece is clean, bright and original, with NO restoration. A rare set, rarely seen or offered. EX/MT.
