FLICK on FRICK. In his first four years with the Phillies (1898-1901), he averaged .345, batting .378 in 1900, and won the AL batting crown in 1905 with Cleveland. Flick was one of turn-of-the-century’s greatest stars and while forgotten by many modern experts, he’s considered one the greatest batters of all time. We’ll stop the history lesson there – if you’re interested in this ball, you know how tough his single is. It is a true rarity and on every serious want-list, although few would specify or demand the particulars and attributes this ball offers – any Flick ball would suffice. They’re that rare. This is an Official National League (Frick) ball with strong bold stampings. Its features a large Flick signature rendered in burgundy fountain pen ink. The west panel includes the notation, “Jan 1st 1944”, in Flick’s hand. Both ball and signature rate an easy 8/10. No doubt this specimen is a premier example and one of the finest ever offered.
