Richard Nixon Autographed Photo (w/Memorial Program)

Out of stock

SKU: 42154 Category:

Like the subject himself, this photo of Richard Nixon is slightly imperfect. We report a light crease in the lower left corner and another vague crease toward the upper left edge (both in non-critical areas). It’s an 8″ x 10″ portrait rendering of an aging Nixon which he signed and dated (“2-28-89“). It’s a well-contrasted ballpoint signature projecting at a quality of “trong>9-10”. (There’s a little subtle symbolism to be appreciated in that Nixon had just reached the age of 76.) And though the former President dated this piece, there’s an anonymous penning on the reverse, “Richard Nixon 4/78“, which may date the image.

Included is an original program from Nixon’s funeral service (April 27, 1994). This keepsake is in about EX/MT condition – qualified only by a small blemish appearing on the cover. Fashionably bound by light cord, this publication retains its onionskin end page and, we learn, eulogies were delivered by Robert Dole, Henry Kissinger, and Billy Graham (who delivered the sermon). As a pair, these two pieces are an impressive tribute to a president who really wasn’t dissimilar to others holding his office – the big difference is that he got caught.
