The “Hot Rod”, Rowdy Roddy Piper was one of the WWE’s greatest in-ring specialists mixing technical skills with theatrical prowess. He arrived in the WWE as the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling era began to boom, Piper was perfectly at home. The splash, color and showmanship of the ’80’s was tailor-made for his wild-child persona. It was during this time that he went from being a star in the territories to a Superstar around the world.
Roddy Piper’s over-the-top antics and out-of-control behavior made him the WWE Superster fans loved to hate. But one small and very special audience was always in Piper’s corner no mater what: his family. For Piper’s wife Kitty and their four children (Anastacia, Ariel, Colton and Falon), wrestling’s greatest heel was their biggest hero.
When Roddy Piper was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005, by 16 time World Champion Ric Flair, Flair said “Roddy is the greatest entertainer in Wrestling History, bar none”. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper is the last of the real deal gunslingers of Pro Wrestling. Recently, the WWE named Rowdy Roddy Piper the greatest Villain in the history of Professional Wrestling. According to Vince McMahon, you never know what the Hot Rod has under his kilt, nor what he is going to do next!
Piper wore a kilt because, “real men wear kilts”. Oftentimes he also brought his bagpipes to the ring and played for the fans. Piper also wore an iconic black leather jacket and tee shirt to commence his battles in the ring or tease within his Pit.
Presented is one of Piper’s awesome ring worn black leather jackets. Tagging in the collar shows it is made by Excelled [size] 44 reg. and made of genuine leather. The comfortable jacket features a button notch lapel collar and front zip closure. It has full sleeves with zipper cuffs that gave him an impressive appearance when wearing it. Shows wear from multiple uses and was worn countless times during his career.
To complete the outfit, also included is his classic “Hot Rod!” tee-shirt dates to circa 2005 – Wrestlemania 21. It was worn by Piper most likely during the Wrestlemania 21 events and features the yellow/red “Hot Rod!” on the front and does show some wear. Of note, the interior tagging shows it is a WWE [size] M.
