Sam Snead Signatures (1957 Scorecard, and Wilson Ad)

SKU: 42167 Category:

For the Slammin’ Sammy admirer, we offer this tandem signing. The first is a contestant’s signature from the 1957 Western Open (Plum Hollow in Detroit). Naturally, Snead was in the field for that event, and for the second round in that open, he necessarily signed this scorecard. It’s a penciled signature (as is standard). The card is a fold-over affair that opens to 9-1/2″ x 3-1/2″, and it’s about EX (qualified by a small residual stain comfortably distant from the signature). The signing is cleanly legible to about “9” in quality. By the way, he shot a 2-under 69 that day. The second is a Wilson Sporting Goods endorsement poster which appears to be a point-of-sale premium. It’s probably not a period piece; NM/MT, blank-backed, very clean, and measuring 10″ x 13″. Thereon, Snead penned his autograph in blue felt tip – a signature projecting at a quality of “9-10”.
