Description
Offered is a game worn baseball uniform dating to circa 1920-1921 . Spalding & supplemental tags sewn in collar while “Btry D 185 F.A.” is sewn across the chest in maroon felt along with “GJ” sewn to the left sleeve within a diamond shaped border. Rounding out the uniform are the matching pants. Jersey remains in excellent overall condition with light use while the pants show slightly heavier wear. Jersey is 41″ inches sleeve to sleeve. Pants are 34″ This is a Military Baseball uniform dating around WW1 . “B try D 185 F.A.” stands for “Battery D(Dog in military phonetics) 185th Field Artillery”. This unit was a National Guard unit out of Iowa and was formerly known as the ” 1st Iowa F. A. They were a state side unit ONLY being a Nat’l Guard outfit, but when WWI broke out and they were cast into the fight in 1920, their designation was changed the following year, 1921, to what’s on this uniform. A.G. Spalding was a patriotic man and from what I read donated a lot of equipment to our military services to keep up morale. This is a fantastic piece
