Description
On April 13, 1997, Tiger Woods won his first major, the Masters, in record-breaking fashion and became the tournament’s youngest winner at age 21. Two months later, he set the record for the fastest ascent to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Presented is a vintage Tiger Woods signature from 1997. This is from when Woods agreed to return to Las Vegas to defend his Las Vegas Invitational title in 1997. But after a second-round 64, Woods ballooned to a 77 at the Desert Inn. And while he made the cut, he never got into contention at TPC Summerlin. He would finish tied for 36th place as Bill Glasson defeated David Edwards and Billy Mayfair by one shot to win the tournament. The autographs were obtained when the PGA players came to Las Vegas for the 1997 tournament in Summerlin.
Within the shadowbox (18″x 21″ w/2.5″ depth) centrally is the Tiger Woods autograph in black felt tip (“9”) on a L.V. Invitational pamphlet. Other highlights include Dessert Inn golf course promotional pages signed by Lee Janzen, Phil Mickelson, Tom Kite and Fred Couples. The lower section features a golf ball which is affixed to the display signed by Mark O’Meara.
