“The Last Samurai” Soldier Leather Vest Costume (Backlot Props)

The film The Last Samurai was an epic film made in 2003 starring Tom Cruise.

This is a leather vest from a soldier character in the movie “The Last Samurai”. It features shoulder straps on the top to hold the protective portion in place on the upper torso and a woven flap bottom portion. There are also decorative metal pieces throughout with a small leather holder affixed to the back. A circular medallion/armor of sort was removed on the chest portion as seen by the photo. Overall top-to-bottom length of 30″ with wardrobe department sticker affixed in interior.

 These items originated from the company Backlot Props and Costumes. Backlot Props and Costumes were based in Burbank, California. They warehoused costumes and props from the major movie studios. The company liquidated their assets in 2010 and these were part of the acquisition of tens of thousands of original costumes and props. These are now available for the first time publicly.
