Offered are two news agency photographs that eventually made their way from London to the publishers of “!6 Magazine” in New York City. Both photos originate from The Beatles, April 14, 1963 appearance on the ABC-Television series “Thank Your Lucky Stars.” The program was recorded at the Teddington Studio Center in Middlesex, England. The Beatles performance was a lip-sync to their current new record, “From Me To You.” The first photo was trimmed to 7 ½” X 9 ¼” and features John Lennon and George Harrison on stage playing acoustic guitars. The face of the photo has been marked with a grease pencil indicating the photo cropping for reproduction. The reverse side is rubber stamped “Property of 16 Magazine, 745 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10022” with another rubber stamping that declares “ABC Television Picture, copyright free if ABC credited.” The second photograph is an 8” X 10” group photo that features Host, Brian Matthew with The Dave Clark Five, The Vernon’s Girls, Bert Weedon, Del Shannon, Johnny Tillotson, Mike Berry, and The Beatles The face of the photo has been marked with a grease pencil for cropping. The reverse side of the photo has numerous pen and pencil markings with a 16 Magazine rubber stamp indicating the magazine’s specifications. Both photographs are NRMT.
