Description

After Van Halen’s debut album release in 1978, he was named as “Best New Guitarist of The Year” by Guitar Player Magazine. In the early 1970’s, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and his brother Alex, a drummer, formed the group “Mammoth” with vocalist David Lee Roth and bass player Michael Anthony. They changed their name to Van Halen in ’78. Roth was fired in 1986 and replaced by Sammy Hagar, who was, in turn, replaced by Gary Cherone in ’96.

5150 is the seventh studio album by American rock band Van Halen. It was released on March 24, 1986 by Warner Bros. Records and was the first of four albums to be recorded with lead singer Sammy Hagar, who replaced David Lee Roth. The album was named after Eddie Van Halen’s home studio, 5150, in turn named after a California law enforcement term for a mentally disturbed person (a reference to Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code).
