Description

Vintage Antique Hampden Pocket Watch (Still Runs)-Portion of Proceeds Benefits the Depreciation Lands Museum

The Hampden Watch Company produced pocket watches for the American market during the late nineteent to early twentieth centuries. The origins trace back to the New York Watch Company which was based in Providence (RI). In the late 1860s, demand grew for the timepieces. Later in the 1880s, an Ohio based watch case manufacturer (John Dueber) purchased a large share of the company in order to add to the market. Then in 1927, the company was sold and went overseas to Russia.

Presented is one of the Hampden Watch Company's pocket watches. Classic in design with ornate patterns on the case, both movements still run with a quick windup. Shows expected aging/wear with consideration of vintage is still a great timepiece.
