Description

Foresters of America, a fraternal society founded in the US in 1895 and provided life and disability insurance to its members. Usually contains an eagle, crossed flags, and a deer. Their motto was Liberty, Unity, Benevolence and Concord.

Like other friendly societies and fraternal organizations of the time, Foresters helped transform the insurance industry by extending insurance benefits to the average working family. In addition to admitting women as full members, Foresters provided orphan benefits to the children of deceased Foresters members – benefits that are still available today as part of Foresters membership.

Historically, Foresters has also actively helped communities in need. As of 2014 Foresters supports various community causes in Canada, the US and UK, through direct investment in national and local community partnerships, branch funding and educational scholarships.

Presented is a large 57″ x 94″ Foresters of America tapestry. The tapestry featuring a central Foresters logo is made from a heavy cloth fabric and is well weathered shows aging/storage wear/staining throughout. It is supported by wooden beams and the manufacturers mark is on the back by Simons and Fox.
