Yo, Joe! Presented is a vintage lot of GI Joe related items.
G.I. Joe is an American media franchise and a line of action figures owned and produced by the toy company Hasbro. The initial product offering represented four of the branches of the U.S. armed forces with the Action Soldier (U.S. Army), Action Sailor (U.S. Navy), Action Pilot (U.S. Air Force), Action Marine (U.S. Marine Corps) and later on, the Action Nurse. The name is derived from the usage of “G.I. Joe” for the generic U.S. soldier, itself derived from the more general term “G.I.”. The development of G.I. Joe led to the coining of the term “action figure”. G.I. Joe’s appeal to children has made it an American icon among toys.
The highlight of this GI Joe action figure toy lot is that there are two full size 12″ action soldiers (FM75-00). Both show minimal play wear, have red hair and the brown tall boots. Each of the figures is in a different uniform and have just the accessories shown.
The solid green suited one is from 1966 as shown by the manufacture’s mark on his body. The other with rank stripes in a Military Police (MP) uniform is an earlier model from 1964-65 era (as shown by marking).
Also included is a vintage footlocker (with child’s name penned on the box) which has the majority of the original components (15+ different items – see photos). Other GI Joe items in this collection include ephemera via manuals, instructions and promotional materials.
Also included as a bonus is a toy by Marx Springfield Rifle Model 1903 which is in a green box.
