Vintage US Marines Jacket

This is a vintage Swingster Marine Corps Tour Jacket size large (“chest 25″- length 26″ – armpit to the end of sleeve 21”).  The colors of the jacket Scarlet and Gold, the left breast “US MARINES are embroidered lengthways. The jacket is in worn condition, with some tears, one at the end of the left sleeve and two small tears on the left breast of the jacket. There are a total of 6 patches; 3 on the front, 1 on the right sleeve, 3 on the left sleeve. Made in the USA.

The patches on the front of the jacket indicate that the former owner was a Marine and was attached to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW). At the end of the Vietnam War, several units were brought back to the United States and deactivated or redesigned, creating the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing as it is constituted today. Also, there is Phantom 3rd MAW patch. This patch indicates the former Marine was most likely ground crew on an Air Wing base in Vietnam, the F-4 Phantom was the aircraft that was used by the Marines during the Vietnam conflict. On the back of the jacket, a bottom rocker embroidered “Baby-Chann” probably the Marines girlfriend. The top rocker has writing in Vietmanize characters.
