Walt Disney Signed Sketch Watercolor Drawing of Donald Duck -Inscribed JSA Full LOA
Original Watercolor Painting Drawing Walt Disney of Donald Duck – Signed & Inscribed – JSA Full LOA
Walt Disney was a man of vision who understand the appeal of telling stories both through the use of great stories and also the use wonderful visual effects from the imagination. Presented is a display (16.25″ x 17.5″) that is a grand tribute to Walt Disney, complete with an actual hand-drawn water color portrait of Donald Duck. It is widely known that Disney all but stopped drawing professionally post-1920s. After that, on occasion he would offer a quick sketch of Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck to kids or studio honchos.
However, this piece is more than just a quick sketch to appease a patron. In the art, with impressive detail and coloration Donald Duck is “all-fired up” as he stomps the ground. It was dedicated in splendid black ink to “NORMAN HOFFELL – WITH MY BEST WISHES.” Especially significant is Disney’s signature beneath the dedication. Among the entertainment industry’s most elusive autographs, Walt Disney’s was particularly difficult because of his relative inaccessibility through much of his fame. But as well (it’s been said) he wasn’t particularly receptive to the public – in sharp contrast to his televised persona.
Original Painting drawings by Walt Disney are scarce and this Donald Duck example is Disneyana at its finest. Although not sketched by Disney, it was under his supervision. Disney was not known to sign any of these sketches, but he did sign this one, giving it his blessing and approval. Overall, a striking testament to the man who innovated cartoon animation and inspired thousands of artists for generations.
