William “Dummy” Hoy Signed Index Card

Out of stock

SKU: 24431 Category:

Offered is a rare signed memento from an equally rare athlete. William “Dummy” Hoy was more than a talented sensory-challenged 5′ 4″, 148-pound outfielder; he was also a courageous deaf mute who delivered the greatest impact of any handicapped player in baseball history, inspiring the adoption of the hand signs and signals used by umpires today. As one of the most influential players of the 19th Century, he totaled 2,054 career hits and eight 100+ hit seasons, as well as 30 or more stolen bases in his first dozen campaigns, and his legacy continues to enjoy intense lobbying for Hall of Fame enshrinement. Definitive “Wm E Hoy” is rendered in bold ink on the lined side of this 4″ x 6″ index card – “9” in quality.
