Willie McGee Signed, Game-worn 1997 Cardinals Throwback Helmet

Outfielder Willie McGee was one of the better all-around of his time. A staple with the St. Louis Cardinals championship teams in the 1980s, he finished his career in the late 1990s there. This size-“7 1/4” helmet was worn by McGee in a Turn Back the Clock night on July 4, 1997. The bright blue ABC helmet, a stark contrast from the bright red ones worn today, features the familiar interlocking St. Louis script on the front. The uniform number “51” is hand-written in black felt tip on the inner crown. McGee signed the front bill (“9”) in silver paint pen. The date of the game is also noted in silver under the bill.
