Willie Stargell Game-Used Coach’s Bat

Willie Stargell had such an affection for the sport of baseball that upon retiring he wanted to share some of his knowledge with a younger generation. That was just Pops’ disposition – he always wanted to help out whenever he could. This model K44 Louisville Slugger bat (35″ and 35.5 ounces) was used by the Hall of Fame fence buster after his playing days were over and he was an instructor with the Bucs. Great use is shown with a spattering of black ball scuffs from hitting batting practice and a light layering of pine tar has been applied to the unusually thick handle. “34 1/2/34” is neatly penned in black felt tip on the knob. According to our bat authenticator, this slick stick was issued for Stargell’s use in 1998.
