Zico, is a Brazilian coach and former footballer, who played as an attacking midfielder. Often called the “White Pelé, he was a creative playmaker, with excellent technical skills, vision, and an eye for goal, who is considered one of the most clinical finishers and best passers ever, as well as one of the greatest players of all time. Arguably the world’s best player of the late 1970s and early 80s, he is regarded as one of the best playmakers and free kick specialists in history, able to bend the ball in all directions. Zico played for the Brazilian national football team from 1976-1986, scoring 48 goals in 71 appearances.
In 1999, Zico came eighth in the FIFA Player of the Century grand jury vote, and in 2004 was named in the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living players. According to Pelé, considered one of the best players ever, “throughout the years, the one player that came closest to me was Zico”.
Presented is a game-worn yellow home jersey that Zico wore while with the national team Brazil during the 1986 World Cup. The yellow jersey is 100% cotton made by Topper [size] 14 with tagging in the collar. It features a team patch on the chest of the Brazilian team and the Topper logo on the opposite side. It has a green collar and sleeve ends for added decoration.
The back features his screened on number “10”. The front was also autographed by Zico in black felt tip (“8”). Overall, the jersey shows heavy wear, age and discoloration from multiple uses and washings. A perfect example of an early Brazil jersey from a great player that has survived over many years.
The provenance COA is from the sister of a former Brazil player – Afonsinho who gave it to her and it remained in her family. It states that the jersey was worn during the 1986 World Cup by Zico.
