This item originates from the Roy Moseley collection. Moseley was one of the leaders in show business journalism in England. He wrote many books that appeared on the New York Time’s Best Seller List. Being an author in high regard had its perks, as he was closely connected to royalty and celebrities. Hence his notable work, “My Stars and Other Friends” provides a glimpse into the lifestyle us everyday people dream about. During his career, Moseley brilliantly gathered in person some of the finest autographs in the world. Some were personalized to him as a testament to their respect and kinship. Every celebrity has a story as well as every autograph Moseley obtained. Here now is one of those legacy pieces for your collection.
Zsa Zsa Gabor began her stage career in Vienna and was crowned Miss Hungary in 1936. She emigrated from Hungary to the United States in 1941. Becoming a sought-after actress with “European flair and style”, she was considered to have a personality that “exuded charm and grace”. Her first film role was a supporting role in Lovely to Look At. She later acted in We’re Not Married! and played one of her few leading roles in the John Huston-directed film, Moulin Rouge (1952). Huston would later describe her as a “creditable” actress.
Presented from Moseley’s collection is a piece of parchment (5″ x 5.5″) signed by Zsa Zsa Gabor. It was signed on the back of a food and beverage reservation in black pen (“9”). It looks like she also added a phone number presumably for Moseley to add to his personal Rolodex of stars.
