1970’s Don Maynard Game-Worn Jersey

Enjoy this Superb Jets Game-Worn jersey coming directly from Don Maynard.   This road mesh jersey was worn by Don Maynard during the 1970 season. It has a cotton ribbed knit round neck and a six-button crotch piece that remains fully intact. Made by Champion, it sports the N.Y. based manufacturer’s size “L” c. 1970 tail label.

All of the identifiers are screened on as was apropos on all Jets early ’70s mesh gamers. Of note is the prototypical green sleeve insert which has been custom cut by Don Maynard. However, the fancy shoulder stripe is not present, as this style was termed the “simplistic warm weather, lightweight model.” Players wore them in-game as was their preference (vis-a-vis heavier mesh). Photos of Jets players using them in actual games are provided.  You can see clearly that NAMATH has the jersey style with the shoulder stripe, however, #52 does not sport that shoulder stripe style.  Hence, verifying the MAYNARD style jersey without the photo stripe during game play.

Don has signed the jersey on the left shoulder in black with his player number “13” and it comes with his personal letter of game-worn authentication. The jersey shows light but apropos wide receiver wear.
