Description
On November 13, 1982, one of boxing’s great tragedies happened. Ray Mancini survived an early onslaught of punches from Korean challenger Kim Duk-Koo to totally dominate the fight in the later rounds. In one exchange in the 13th round, Mancini connected 39 times in a row but the bout continued into the 14th. Mancini struck with a hard right which sent Kim to the canvas and hit his head pretty hard. Kim did rise up but the referee stopped the fight and Mancini was awarded the TKO. Kim collapsed and fell into a coma dying four days later.
Both Kim’s mother and the referee would die by their own hands within the year, compounding the guilt of Mancini, who was never the same fighter again. Presented is a rare blue ticket stub from that 1982 match-up between Mancini and Duk-Koo. It was encapsulated and graded EX 5 from PSA.
Authentication: PSA Encapsulated & Graded.
