The Mariners selected Alex Rodriguez first overall in the 1993 MLB draft, and he debuted in the major leagues the following year at the age of 18. In 1996, he became the Mariners’ starting shortstop, won the major league batting championship, and finished second in voting for the AL MVP Award. His combination of power, speed, and defense made him a cornerstone of the franchise, but he left the team via free agency after the 2000 season to join the Rangers.
Presented is a mesh game worn undershirt that Alex Rodriguez wore while with the Mariners circa 1998. It is a pullover that features a Nike swoosh on the chest and tagging in the interior that shows it is a XL. The sleeve features his number “3” in teal with white outline. It’s a Dri-Fit and the back features his nickname logo A-Rod. Rodriguez signed it for further authentication and provenance in silver paint pen (“6-7”) with the incription, “1998 Gamer.”
