In 2002, Jim Thome was at the top of the baseball charts. He knocked in 52 home runs (career high) and had an American League .667 slugging percentage with 122 walks (1.122 OPS). His average was .304 with 118 RBIs. For an Indians fan it doesn’t get much better than the offered white sleeveless alternate jersey worn by Thome that season in 2002.
This listing has style, substance and a little spackle twill all wrapped into one. All of the identifiers on this [size] “52” shirt are applied in a three-color formation (red, navy blue, silver spackle twill). A Chief Wahoo team patch adorns the front chest. “THOME” is sewn to an arched nameplate on the verso. Four ruckled tags appear in the tail: Russell Athletic, “2002”, [size] 52, 100% Polyester and “+2″ Extra Length.” The jersey shows wear spots throughout the upper half (pine tar, tobacco juice?). The interior was also stamped in black by the Indians, “PURCHASED FROM CLEVELAND INDIANS.” Thome signed the jersey on the back number in silver paint pen for added excitement (“9-10”).
Also included is the navy blue undershirt Thome wore with the vest. It’s a Russell Athletic XXL and marked #25 in black felt tip on the tag.
