Movie “Alexander” Decorative Vest Costume (Backlot Props)
Alexander is a 2004 epic historical drama film based on the life of the Macedonian Greek general and king Alexander the Great. It was directed by Oliver Stone, with Colin Farrell in the title role. The film was an original screenplay based in part on the book Alexander the Great, written in the 1970s by the University of Oxford historian Robin Lane Fox.
Chronicling the life of the legendary king of Macedonia, Alexander (Colin Farrell) takes the throne following his father’s assassination and proceeds to bring the world to heel in military campaigns across Greece, Persia and beyond, becoming one of the most famed generals in history.
This is a decorative vest from the movie “Alexander”. It measures 25″ top to bottom and 17″ from pit-to-pit. It is decorated ornately in a tribal fashion with metal pieces conjoined with shells. The interior is modern fabric which holds it together. A Backlot Props inventory sticker is also present in the interior.
These items originated from the company Backlot Props and Costumes. Backlot Props and Costumes were based in Burbank, California. They warehoused costumes and props from the major movie studios. The company liquidated their assets in 2010 and these were part of the acquisition of tens of thousands of original costumes and props. These are now available for the first time publicly.
